Blackpool Transport 410 on Bank Hey Street

BLACKPOOL TRANSPORT 410 ON BANK HEY STREET

Blackpool is the largest town in Lancashire. For a town of its size, it doesn't have many bus services, however most bus routes in the town do run at a frequency of 10 - 30 minutes. Buses haven't used the town's 1960s bus station since 2002, with most services using bus stops on Market Street and Corporation Street in the town centre. Longer distance coach services use the Blackpool Central Coach Station, which has a booking office.

Blackpool Transport, owned by Blackpool Borough Council, operate the majoity of local bus services in and around Blackpool, with Coastliner also running a couple of town services. Stagecoach Merseyside & South Lancashire operate country bus services to and from Blackpool, from their depots in Preston and Morecambe. Coastal Coaches also operate an hourly service to St Annes.

Longer-distance coach services operate on National Express services to Birmingham and Leeds, operated on behalf of National Express by Selwyns, Stotts Coaches, East Yorkshire Motor Services and National Express West Midlands' Walsall depot. JH Coaches also operate a coach service to Leeds on certain days only.

Vehicle Variety The three main operators in Blackpool (Blackpool Transport, Stagecoach and Coastliner) all use predominantly Alexander Dennis buses, mostly Enviro 200s and 400s. Coastal Coaches' hourly 76 service is the only local bus service to not usually use ADL buses, instead using a Mercedes-Benz Mellor Strata and Optare Solo SR.
Operator Variety Most local bus services in Blackpool are run by council-owned Blackpool Transport, Stagecoach in Merseyside & South Lancashire and local operator Coastliner.
Quantity of Buses Blackpool has about an average amount of buses for a town of its size. Although the amount of bus routes isn't particularly high, some of the routes have a PVR of 5 or above, route 3's PVR being as high as 8, operating at a combined frequency with route 4 of 10 minutes. Most other town services are every 20 - 30 minutes.
Photograph Opportunities A number of bus routes in Blackpool operate along the Promenade, which can make a good photo, however traffic can often be busy.
